Brief Profile

Dr. Ashok S Gavaskar, the clinical lead at Rela Institute of Orthopaedics and Spine Surgery is a fellowship trained orthopedic surgeon with over 10 years of experience & expertise in primary and revision joint replacement surgery, pelvic surgery and complex orthopedic trauma. He is an elite member of the AO Trauma – Technical Commission as part of the five-member Asia Pacific Trauma Expert Group (AO-TK: ASEG). The group specializes in development of intellectual properties (IPs) related to the practice of orthopedic trauma. He is currently the associate editor for the European journal of orthopedic surgery and traumatology (EJOST) and also the assistant editor of Indian journal of Orthopaedics. He is an invited reviewer of leading journals like Bone & Joint Journal, Journal of Arthroplasty, International orthopaedics, Journal of orthopedic trauma and Injury. He is currently the Chairman of the Asia Pacific Orthopedic Association (APOA) – Young Surgeons Committee and also the Asia – Pacific representative for SICOT (World orthopaedic association) young surgeons committee. He has received numerous international awards and honours including the prestigious International (2014) and Emerging leaders’ scholarship (2017) awards from the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons as recognition of his outstanding work in the field of joint reconstruction and trauma surgery. He also was the recipient of the APOA young ambassador award in 2014
